OUR NEW APPROACH TO COVID-19 FROM THE 19th
Although many things are no longer compulsory you will still find our team wearing a mask and all our chairs socially distant, our cleaning routines will still be in place. Whilst guests need not wear a mask we will always have masks available for you during your visit if you still wish to wear one as now is not the time for complacency and it's about doing the right thing and respecting others. So rest assured the team at dottylines will always endeavour to do their best.
Luckily at dottylines we have a large and spacious salon that will enable us to keep our safety measures in place for the foreseeable future without impacting on our passion and commitment to beautiful hairdressing and fabulous service which is at the core of what we're about. So if you are yet to revisit us please give us a call.
AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM DOTTYLINES
Here are a few safety measures that we’ve put in place for when you next visit:
We trust you, however we are asking if you are showing symptoms or suspect that you may have been in contact with an infected person that you reschedule your appointment to a later date
We have to limit the amount of people we have in the salon at any one time to a minimum which is why we ask if possible to visit us on your own
If you are bringing children for their appointment they must be supervised at all times and maintain social distancing
We have a 2 metre distance between each styling station and you will be allocated a chair for the duration of your visit but we ask you to respect the personal space of others
Wearing a face covering is essential and we do have them available if you have forgotten one and all stylists will be wearing visors and masks as per guidelines
We ask you turn up 5 minutes before your appointment so we are able to start your service on time, although we do apologise if we are running late
Unfortunately we are not able to offer magazines at this time so we invite you to bring along a good book, a glossy magazine or a tablet and take advantage of our complimentary Wifi
All styling stations will be fully sanitised after each use and they have been fully equipped with sanitiser and tissues for your use
A safe charge of £2 will be applied to all visits to ensure the salon can receive the same standard of care and consideration that you deserve
All we wish to do is to reassure all our guests that your and our teams’ well-being is always our top priority. We look forward to seeing you.
LOCKDOWN STORIES … MICHAEL
Over the years I like most other people have wished to have more free time. But prior to the first lockdown it has only ever happened following an incident of some kind. Six months, when I had a badly broken leg, then eighteen months and another six months following various operations on my leg. Therefore I had limited mobility and was unable to do anything anyway.
Then the first lockdown came, fifteen weeks of what seemed endless sunshine. Which to be honest I really enjoyed and which I felt extremely guilty about. I was enjoying myself in the sunshine whilst so many were struggling or worse, dying. A feeling that has never really left me.
But the downside was there was nowhere to go or nothing to do. Luckily I have a garden and enjoy spending time in it (see pic). As time went on my frustration grew as I felt the need to be back at work.
Following the end of the first lockdown my frustration and anger grew with the apparent disregard many businesses had to the new rules and also the lack of interest the authorities had towards enforcing them. Then when the tier system came along all I could see was ‘let’s punish the highstreets’ rather than ensuring we all behaved within the rules.
So, with the arrival of the second and third lockdowns I was quite grumpy and worst of all the weather was terrible. Well it was winter. That meant I had no garden to save me. Reading books and watching great old movies has been my steady diet but my sole highlight has been watching PNE, and that has been rubbish too.
How often have we said to ourselves ‘how boring our lives are’? But it is that normality I now crave. Wandering down to the pub to watch football, or popping round to see someone and ordering eggs benedict at my favourite café on a Sunday morning. Simply, just being able to do those everyday activities once again is going to be great.
What do you miss most that you once thought of as being an everyday event?
LOCKDOWN STORY ... LAURA
Lock down has been different for everyone; whether it was the first one in March 2020, November or this one, and fingers crossed we can only hope this is the last one.
Last year I was working two jobs before March so it was hard to go from working 40+ hours a week to all of a sudden nothing. At first like any girl my age (23) at the time, I thought it was going to be a short "break" from work. The weather was really good so as you can imagine there was a lot of sunbathing, BBQ’s and booze (oops).
Because my room is as hot as a greenhouse it stopped me from staying in bed all day and I did get up and go for long walks in the sun just to get out. I and my family started doing jigsaws which is certainly something I never did before, because I felt like I didn’t have time or was too tired. I don’t want to toot my own horn but I’m quite the jigsaw wiz now ha-ha.
During the first lock down I appreciated the salon I work for as Bev and Mick went out of their way to pay us 100% wage which helped me so much and the team. As you can imagine most of it funded my days out in the sun (oops, thanks Bev and Mick). Fast forward to the 4th July when we first returned to work, and like some of the girls I was very anxious about going back. I hadn’t had proper social interaction with guests in months. I was ready to get back to work 100% but even something as simple as being stood up for my set work hours was a struggle.
With the next 2 lockdowns because the days were shorter and colder I didn’t have many things to keep my brain busy. I personally struggled as I lost a lot of motivation to do anything. Whether that being getting out of bed, going for walks or even getting dressed because I didn’t need to. Although I have started reading again.
With every lock down we have stayed in contact with everyone I work with, thanks to Bev and Mick with our Zoom meets which sustained a little bit of normality. Also sending us sheets to read through to improve our product and colour knowledge so we can progress for our guests, and the FaceTime testing was a new one.
I haven’t really ditched any bad habits to be honest. The only benefit of being off is that I’m not spending daft amounts of money at Greggs, Subway and Tesco ha-ha. But other than that I can’t wait to go back to the salon. I miss the socialising of seeing our guests’ excited faces when they come in and even more the smile when they leave. I miss having catch up's with our guests. And finally I miss having a routine to get up, put my makeup on, do my hair, look smart and get to work! I can’t wait to come back and see not just the girls and Mick but to see all our guests again and make them feel and look as amazing as they make me feel.
See you soon, Love Laura.
What have you missed throughout the lockdowns?
